Riverdale church surprises delivery man with big tip

RIVERDALE, Ga. - A Riverdale church surprised a local delivery man with a huge tip.

It was pizza day at Living Waters International on Sunday, and Pastor Jason Rowland and other church leaders had something special planned.

The leaders took up a collection before church began and, when the delivery guy arrived, they gave it all to him.

“We didn’t know who to expect—man or woman—we just wanted to help someone out,” said Pastor Rowland.

Tara Balcom, a member of the church, captured video of the delivery guy walking in, toward to pulpit, where he was met by Pastor Rowland, who explained what was happening. As the two conversed, the delivery guy, seemingly still in shock, shared that he was an expectant father.

“We prayed that God would send a delivery person who could use a Christmas blessing,” said Balcom.

And, their prayers were answered.

After the delivery guy left, Pastor Rowland said members of the church continued collecting money for him. It was delivered to him later that day.

“We had no financial goal,” said Pastor Rowland. But it’s likely the guy took home a couple hundred dollars, ‘no strings attached.’ 

“This is the true meaning of Christmas, to bless others and spread Gods love,” said Balcom.
