Shocking Atlanta robbery caught on camera

Security cameras caught the moment a robbery suspect strong-armed a 79-year-old victim to steal his wallet, police say.

Atlanta police are asking the public for help identifying a man accused of strong-arming a 79-year-old victim to steal his wallet.

Authorities say the theft happened outside a church on Saturday, Feb. 8.

What we know:

Video shared by the Atlanta Police Department showed the moment that the unidentified suspect grabbed the older man's wallet.

According to investigators, the robbery took place outside the River of Life Christian Center on the 3400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW on Saturday afternoon.

It appears the 76-year-old was sweeping leaves before he was attacked and shoved to the ground.

The footage shows the robbery suspect not minding that there were cars passing by in the middle of the day.

Police say the suspect fled the scene after checking the contents of the wallet and remains out of custody.

What we don't know:

Authorities have not identified the suspect at this time.
