Fallen firefighter's body taken to funeral home

Fallen DeKalb County master firefighter Preston Fant's body was escorted on Wednesday morning from a medical examiner's office to a funeral home. Fant was killed in the line of duty during a fire at a warehouse on Monday.

The body of Master Firefighter Preston Fant, who died in the line of duty while battling a warehouse fire on Monday, was escorted on Wednesday morning to a funeral home.

What we know:

He was escorted from Stone Mountain area to the West Cobb Funeral Home in Marietta.

Authorities said Fant died Monday after becoming trapped while trying to rescue another firefighter during the blaze. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Master firefighter killed by fire on Monday identified

A longtime firefighter died after being injured fighting a commercial warehouse fire Sept. 8 in DeKalb County. Officials said Preston Fant served the department for 21 years.

What they're saying:

Fant was a 21-year veteran of DeKalb Fire. He leaves behind a wife and 5 children. During a press conference on Tuesday, he was described as an "elite firefighter" and a "good man." He was also praised for his bravery and willingness to run into danger to help another. 

A GoFundMe has been established for his family. 

What we don't know:

At this time, funeral plans have not been announced.
