ATLANTA - Police are investigating a deadly shooting outside a polling place in northwest Atlanta late Tuesday morning that officers said appeared to be a suicide.
According to police, a woman shot herself around 11:30 a.m. in the Lindsay Street Baptist Church parking lot. That's near the intersection of Joseph E. Lowery Blvd. and North Ave.
The polling place remained open following the shooting. Voters had to park on the street and walk to the church as police investigated.
Officers said there's no evidence to suggest the woman voted before shooting herself, or that she had any direct connection to the polling place.
