Police: Teen gunman killed victim in motel parking lot

Police in Rome, Georgia are searching for a teenage suspect they say killed a man in a motel parking lot.

On Tuesday, Dec. 11, officers were called to the Cottis Inn on the 1100 block of Martha Berry Boulevard in Rome at around 9:30 p.m. after a person living at the motel said they had heard gunfire.

When police got to the scene, they found 35-year-old Rome resident Richard Jermaine Boatner lying in the parking lot.

Medics rushed Boatner to a local hospital where he was declared dead.

After an investigation and talking to witnesses, police say they identified the suspect as 18-year-old Cody Deangelo Thompson.

Police have now issued a warrant for Thompson's arrest charging him with felony murder.
