Police pursue burglary suspect on LA freeways, riverbed
WHITTIER, Calif. (FOX 11 / CNS) - A burglary suspect was trying to evade capture while speeding on the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway near Industry in Los Angeles, with sheriff's deputies close behind. News media outlets report the chase began in the Walnut area.
At one point the suspect exited the 605 Freeway in Santa Fe Springs, with CHP officers in pursuit. The suspect, in an SUV, was driving at high speeds along the San Gabriel River wash where he jumped out on foot.
Sheriff's deputies and the CHP are establishing a perimeter in the area where that burglary suspect ran into a group of trees, and possibly into a drainage ditch, in the Whittier area near the San Gabriel River.
