Police: Officer arrested after domestic violence incident

A Sandy Springs police officer has been arrested after an alleged incident of domestic violence in Cobb County.

Sandy Springs Police say Officer Anthony Sandoval was involved in a "domestic dispute" with his ex-wife while off duty outside a restaurant at the Battery on Nov. 23.

After an investigation, Cobb County Police arrested Sandoval. He then resigned from the Sandy Springs Police Department.

In a statement, Sandy Springs police told FOX 5, during an internal investigation two other officers, Captail Captain David Huffschmidt and Sergeant Amanda Stein resigned their positions. Officials say neither Huffschmidt and Stein were criminally involved in the domestic incident. Two other employees were interviewed in the investigation and will face no disciplinary action.

Sandoval is charged with domestic violence and simple battery,
