COBB COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A massive manhunt is underway in Cobb County after a person was shot at a gas station right outside SunTrust Park Friday evening.
It happened at the Texaco station on Windy Hill Road near Interstate 75. Cobb County Police said one person was shot and rushed to an area hospital. That person’s condition was not immediately released.
The shooting happened around the time the Atlanta Braves game was ending and traffic from SunTrust Park was beginning.
Witnesses say it's terrifying the shooting happened so close to the packed stadium.
"That's real bad. You've got the Braves playing, fireworks going, and I would just imagine that on one side it's very happy and the other is very upset here on Windy Rill Road," witness Eric Bello said. "I guess it can happen everywhere."
Investigators said they could not rule out more victims, but not at the actual scene.
Police said the shooter fled the scene in a car after firing multiple shots in a crowded area. According to Cobb County Police Sergeant Wayne Delk, investigators found multiple rounds had hit across the street.
Details on that shooter were not immediately known, but police say they did get a description of the getaway car from a witness.
On Saturday, investigators are working to check surveillance video in hopes of gettinga better picture of who is responsible for the shooting.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
