Police: Man opens fire on home invaders

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - DeKalb County Police said a terrified man opened fire on a group of home invaders Friday afternoon.

It happened at an apartment complex on Fairington Ridge Circle near Lithonia. Police said the man and a 4-year-old boy were in the backroom watching television when they heard someone trying to get inside the apartment.

Police said the man grabbed his gun and the young boy, heading to a closet to hide. When the four intruders kicked in the closet door, police said the man shot at them.

One of the intruders, identified only as being an 18-year-old man, was rushed to an area hospital, but later died. Officers took the other three intruders into custody.

Police said the man and the boy were not harmed.

The names of those involved have not yet been released.
