Police: man jumps out of ambulance; struck and killed by car

A man died early Monday morning after an usual accident on the Downtown Connector. 

Police said medics were taking 23-year-old Andrew Hill to the hospital in an ambulance when he became agitated. Investigators said the Hill jumped out near the University Avenue exit and ran across five lanes of Interstate 75/85 northbound.

Officers said the out-of-state man then ran back out into traffic, where he was struck and killed by a car. 

The accident forced all northbound lanes to shut down, causing major delays. 

Police have not yet released the victim's identity.
