Investigators said a foot chase of an armed man led to an officer-involved shooting in DeKalb County.

The ordeal happened around 8 p.m. at the Mountain Crest Apartments off North Hairston Road near Central Avenue. DeKalb County Police said the person shot was in serious condition.

Police said a DeKalb County deputy responded to a suspicious person call of a man armed at the nearby Chevron gas station. Police said the deputy tried to interview the subject, but an altercation ensued.

A DeKalb Police Officer happened to be in the area, spotted the altercation and intervened. Police said the officer and the deputy chased the subject into the nearby apartment complex.

Police said the two law enforcement officers demanded multiple times for the man to drop his weapon, and when he did not, the officer fired at the man.

Police said the subject is a man in his twenties.

The name of those involved have not yet been released.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been asked to review the officer-involved shooting.
