Police in Macomb Co. will pull over, reward good teen drivers

A campaign rewarding teenagers who show good driving behavior kicks off Thursday in Macomb County.

Deputies with the sheriff's department will be on the lookout to pull over unsuspecting teen drivers this fall who are showing good driving habits, such as wearing seat belts, coming to a complete stop, using turn signals and driving the appropriate speed. Those teens will be rewarded with a $5 gift card for fast food.

Sheriff Anthony Wickersham says the gift cards were purchased with grant money won through State Farm's ® Celebrate My Drive campaign. They have about 200 to give away, and are for Taco Bell, Subway and McDonalds.

"The Sheriff's Office is pleased to partner with State Farm in this initiative. Programs like this help to develop positive relationships between our deputies and the young adult community. We look forward to the positive interaction with our new drivers," Wickersham says.
