Police: Georgia teen arrested after stealing car with child inside
FAIRBURN, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A police chase in Fairburn has ended in a car accident and a suspected 15-year-old kidnapper and carjacker under arrest Monday morning.
According to Fairburn police, at a 10 a.m. an adult male parked his Dodge Charger Hellcat in front of a pawn shop on West Broad Street.
The man left the car running, but locked, with his 5-year-old son inside while he went into the pawn shop.
While he was inside, police say a 15-year-old entered the Charger and drove off with the 5-year-old inside.
Union City officers spotted the vehicle and began a chase, which they say ended in a car accident with an uninvolved vehicle.
Thankfully, police quickly learned that the suspect had dropped off the boy unharmed at a Union City home before the chase started. The boy has now reunited with his dad.
Police say the juvenile suspect, who has not been identified, will face kidnapping and auto theft charges, as well as potential charges connected to the police chase.
