A Church's Chicken manager is shot during an overnight robbery at the store in the 6100 block of Covington Highway.

Dekalb County Police say just after midnight the manager was leaving the restaurant after closing for the night.  That's when a young man ran up to him, pulled out a gun and demanded money.  No word if the cash stolen was the manager's personal money or the restaurant's take for the night.

Investigators say the manager complied with the gunman's demands.  But that didn't stop the robber from shooting him.  Paramedics rushed the manager to Grady Memorial Hospital.  At last check he was in stable condition.

After the shooting and robbery, the gunman ran into the woods behind the restaurant.  Police searched for him, but at least for now he hasn't been caught.
