Police accuse Newnan woman of flashing children

A Newnan woman was arrested after police said she performed a lewd act in front of young children trying to have fun on a playground.

Catrina Cannon, 31, was charged with indecent exposure, cruelty to children and an alcohol offense. Those charges stem from an incident that happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday at a Newnan park near Octavia Place.

Newnan Police said Cannon was parading around with her pants down and sexually taunting the boys. Investigators said she is also accused of pushing a little girl to the ground and demanding money, but when she didn’t get it, she started becoming very verbally abusive and pelted the child with beer bottles.

Police said she smelled of alcohol and was disoriented when they arrested her. She told police it was her husband’s birthday and she wanted to go home.

FOX 5 spoke with a number of people in the neighborhood. Some said she was actually well liked and they could not believe she was accused of indecent exposure. However, others said she has been accused of this sort of behavior before.

Police confirmed Cannon has a criminal history that involves prostitution and indecent exposure as well as drug offenses.
