Police: 3 arrested, 6 wanted in fraudulent check-cashing scheme

Three people have been arrested and several others are wanted in a fraudulent check-cashing scheme, according to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said Friday that counterfeit checks were cashed at banks in Griffin and Thomaston that appeared to be Pike County payroll checks and included the signatures of county officials.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Office said 10 checks were cashed for a total of more than $9,300.

Three suspects have been arrested on identity-fraud charges: Gerald Glenn, 56; Deaunte Grannum, 22; and James Turner, 57.

Authorities said warrants have been issued for six other people: Gerald Antoni, 54; Tereze Fortson, 27; Rashon Mitchell, 36; Vernando Smith, 48; Diablito Wade, 39; and Pierre Young, 22.
