Parts of south metro Atlanta are under a Tornado Watch until 8 p.m. Thursday as strong storms move through Georgia.

APP USERS: WATCH LIVE COVERAGE HERE

The Tornado Watch does not include include the city of Atlanta, but the following counties are included: Baldwin, Bibb, Burke, Butts, Chattahoochee, Columbia, Crawford, Crisp, Dodge, Greene, Jasper, Lamar, Macon, Marion, Morgan, Pulaski, Putnam, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor, Toombs, Twiggs, Upson, Warren, Webster, Wheeler, Wilcox and Wilkinson.

The risk for severe storms southeast of I-85 has been upgraded to a "slight" risk through sunset.

As a cold front continues to approach North Georgia, we will see storms fade from west to east. A few scattered non-severe storms are possible north of I-20 through sunset, but the main area that will be affected by the strong-severe storms will be east of I-75 and south of I-20. It doesn't mean we won't see storms out of this General area, but it's less likely.

While the rain will be heavy as it is falling in many areas, that doesn't necessarily mean that the rainfall total will be very high. Most areas will measure less than 1/2" of rain today, with some pockets of higher amounts.

Worth noting....the National Weather Service radar located in Peachtree City is down and is expected to be for a couple of weeks.  As a result, some weather apps will not have the latest radar data.

This makes it especially important to have your free FOX 5 Storm Team app downloaded.  The latest images from FOX 5 Live VIPIR will be available so that you can track when storms are approaching your area!
