Instead of planning a 4-year-old's birthday, a Paulding County family is preparing for a funeral this week.

The Paulding County Sheriff's Office said a detention officer's granddaughter, Alora Rose Sell, was tragically killed in a car accident on Georgia 101 South Tuesday. A report released by the Georgia State Patrol says the driver that struck the Sell's van was likely distracted. Alora was riding in the van with her young brother and mother Haley.

The crash happened just feet from her grandparent's house on Georgia Highway 101. Her mother and grandfather attempted CPR at the scene, but Alora died moments after the crash.

Family and friends have set up an online account to help with expenses for the funeral.

As of Thursday evening, neighbors and complete raised close more than $15,000. Funeral arrangements are pending. Possible charges against the 20-year-old driver are unknown.
