One man dead in southwest Atlanta apartment shooting

An early morning argument at a southwest Atlanta apartment complex left a man dead and a woman wounded, Atlanta Police said Monday.

The shootings took place at the Bent Creek Reserves complex in the 1900 block of Bent Creek Way off Campbellton Road.

Officers responded to a call of a person shot at around 6:10 a.m., and found the man dead from several gunshot wounds inside his apartment.

Neighbors tell FOX 5's Aungelique Proctor the man was quiet and never bothered anyone.

"I can honestly say he was a perfect neighbor. He was the kind of neighbor you would want to have because he didn't bother anyone," neighbor Nyshone Clements told FOX 5.

According to Atlanta Police, a witness told them that another man came to the apartment with a woman.

The witness later heard the visiting man arguing with the victim and then heard gunshots, according to police.

The witness told officers the man and woman then fled the scene.

Officers at the scene told FOX 5 the victim in his 60’s was struck in his neck.

Investigators at the scene determined another person was injured in the incident.

About an hour later, they located a woman at AMC South Hospital with a gunshot wound to her hand.

Homicide investigators are interviewing the woman who is in stable condition.

Police did not immediately release the names of the man killed or the wounded woman.
