A Hall County woman was arrested for leaving her child inside a running car while she went to drink at a wedding reception, authorities said.

Gwendolyn Truby, 41, is charged with public drunkenness, reckless conduct and second-degree cruelty to children.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said Truby was intoxicated and entered a wedding reception looking to order more drinks. A six-year-old was found sleeping in the backseat of the car, which was left in neutral with the keys in the ignition.

The child was relinquished to his father, who arrived at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff's Office.
