According to the Hogansville Police, Troup County firefighters were called to a brush fire on Lincoln Street in Hogansville Sunday morning. They attempted to contain the fire using a trench, but by Sunday night the fire had jumped the trench and was burning out of control.

Police said that they were able to officially contain the fire after 11 p.m. on Sunday, but the fire was "heavily fueled by bamboo, which is popping like gunfire."

Monday morning, officials called in a forestry chopper to drop water on the fire. Hogansville Police posted a video of the chopper arriving on Facebook.

Just after noon Monday, forestry officials said the fire was contained, but they were mopping up hot spots and were monitoring the area.

Police say currently no structures were in danger of being damaged. No one has been injured by the fire.
