Officials: Middle school student arrested for bringing gun to school

An East Hall Middle School student was arrested Friday morning for having a weapon on school property, according to Hall County School District officials.

A student told a school administrator that another student had a weapon.

School administrators seized the weapon and the Hall County Sheriff's Office then arrested the student.

Officials said the student arrested was a 6th grade boy.

The middle school was put on lockdown around 10:20 a.m. and lifted at 11:30 a.m. Parents were notified of the incident.

Authorities did not release the name of the arrested student, but said he was suspended immediately.

The investigation is ongoing.
