A man has been shot during an officer-involved shooting in Jonesboro, according to the Clayton County Police Department.

Police say that officers responded to a suicide call, and when they arrived, a man pulled out a gun. At least one officer fired a shot when the gun was pulled, according to authorities.

"Apparently this stemmed from some kind of domestic disturbance," said Major Brian Danekes. "Upon our officers arrival, the officers did encounter the male subject outside the apartment. They challenged the subject, and gave him verbal commands. At that time, the male subject brandished a weapon, at which time shots were fired."

The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues.

The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. at South Lake Cove apartments. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is no leading the investigation into the incident.

There is no word yet on the man's condition, and he was taken to a local hospital.
