The family of a missionary from northwest Georgia, who was killed when authorities said a semitrailer smashed into the family's vehicle, has started a nonprofit foundation in her honor.

Emerson Police Chief Stan Bradley has said the semi driver was outside the truck when it began to roll down a hill in Emerson, Georgia, on Aug. 13. Kyra Karr died at the scene of the crash, and other family members were injured.

Now, "Breccia Ministries: The Kyra Karr Foundation Inc.," has been incorporated as a nonprofit.

The foundation is named after the Karr family's church in Rome, Italy, where the family had served as missionaries for six years. Its goal is to promote the growth of churches worldwide. Foundation officials say donations can be made at any Bank of America branch.
