Newton County bus drivers trained on 'Stop the Bleed' kits
NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. - A new initiative at Newton County Schools aims to ensure student safety in case of an emergency.
Thursday, bus drivers for Newton County underwent training to use what they call "Stop The Bleed Kits."
The kits contain items that allow users to quickly treat traumatic and heavy bleeding like bandages, dressing, and a tourniquet.
District officials said they've now equipped every Newton County bus driver with these kit for their bus.
Kunkle said his agency's goal is to equip every Georgia school bus with a stop the bleed kit -- plus at least 12 kits in each school in the state.
