Police are investigating after a double shooting in DeKalb County early Tuesday morning during a car repo.

According to police, two repo men were trying to repossess a Pontiac SUV from a house at the intersection of Rockbridge Road and Spring Drive when the shooting took place.

Police said the owner of the vehicle, identified by police as 30-year-old Joshua Hardeman, came home while it was going on and tried to stop the repo men. That's when, according to police, Hardeman pulled out a weapon and fired at least one shot at the repo men, hitting the driver in the neck.

The second repo man, who was in the passenger seat, wasn't injured. It was his first day on the job.

After the shooting, the repo men fled about a block away to a nearby Shell gas station to get some help.

Police don't believe the repo men fired any shots, but during the shooting, Hardeman accidentally shot himself in the foot.

Investigators expect to file charges against the owner of the Pontiac, but wouldn't say what charges.

Both injured men are expected to survive.
