A woman is dead and a young man continues to recover after a tragic single-car accident Sunday night.

According to Atlanta Police, a female driver suffered a medical emergency and lost control of her vehicle, crossing the center lines and crashing into a utility pole at around 11:30 p.m.

"I can't describe the scariness, [be]cause I felt like my heart just dropped.  I couldn't breathe," said Ayanna Robinson, who said she learned that her son was in the hospital through a Facebook message early Monday morning.

Robinson said her son, Davontee' Gardner, 24, had just gotten off work and took the rideshare vehicle to get home.  The driver had just stopped to pick up a second passenger, Robinson explained, when she veered off the road a few minutes later.

Investigators said paramedics transported all three people in the car to Grady Memorial Hospital, where the female passenger died.  The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office has not yet released her name.

Now, Robinson wants a full investigation into whether the driver should have been behind the wheel.

"Any time something happens and there's a life lost and someone hurt, accident or not, the truth needs to come out because you don't want anyone else to go through pain.  I know I don't," said Robinson.

Police said Monday that they do not anticipate filing any charges against the driver.
