A mother who was wanted by Peachtree City Police for allegedly stealing money out of an unattended purse has turned herself in.

Peachtree City Police shared the photo of the mother and her young daughter, saying that they found the purse and took all the money out of it while in the rest.

Police said they wanted to "speak with this mother about her parenting techniques."

Now officials tell FOX 5 News the mother turned herself in on Tuesday and confessed to the crime.

The mother told police her 7-year-old daughter picked the purse off of a rack in the store and followed her into the bathroom. That's when the suspect noticed the purse and took the money out.

The unnamed mother came forward because she wanted people to know her daughter had nothing to do with taking the money and that the crime was not planned, FOX 5's Doug Evans reported.

The woman has now been charged with misdemeanor theft.
