Manhunt after 2 dead, 1 wounded in north Georgia shooting
SUMMERVILLE, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A northwest Georgia community remains on high alert after a triple shooting suspect remains on the loose.
Multiple agencies in Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama are searching for Steven James Mauldin who investigators said is behind a triple shooting which killed Joe Edward Brown, 35 and Linda Mae Everett, 61, and injured Daryl Lee Marsh, 46, at a home on the 13000 block of State Highway 100.
"I was shocked really," said Summerville resident Kheenen Miller. "I didn't know what to think here in little old Summerville."
Friends and family in Chattooga County are on high alert.
"Staying at home, staying in the yard," said resident Amy Bradshaw.
This as law enforcement continue to search for 38-year-old Steven James Mauldin. Tipsters said he was spotted in the Birmingham area. The Chattooga County Sheriff said he's wanted on murder charges after two people were shot and killed at a Summerville home, a third person was injured and taken to the hospital.
The sheriff does not believe Mauldin is still in the area but he continues to ask residents to take extra precaution.
"A lot of places were shut down today...schools, Wal-Mart," said Miller

Investigators believe Mauldin fled the scene after stealing a 2003 silver Honda Civic with a Georgia license plate that reads RMR 8244.
FOX 5 News could only speak to the Chattooga County Sheriff over the phone Tuesday evening because he was out of the county, actively pursuing a possible lead.
"That's what has lead us to obviously not be there to meet with you guys in person, we are following up on a lead at this point," said Sheriff Mark Schrader.
The sheriff said all three people who were shot lived at the home. Investigators said Mauldin no longer lives in the county but was an acquaintance of the three victims.
"We are still working to develop a motive, said Sheriff Schrader. "We do have some indication, just not to the point we are ready to release at this moment."
Investigators believe Mauldin is armed and dangerous.
Anyone who sees him should call the Chattooga County Sheriff's Office.
