Man trying to escape gunfire crashes vehicle into pole

ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Police are investigating a shooting in northwest Atlanta early Tuesday morning. 

According to investigators, a gunman fired shots at a car around 2 a.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Whitehall Street. Officers said as the victim tried to get away, he crashed into a pole near Mercedes-Benz Stadium. 

Police said the car was struck several times, but the driver was not shot. 

The driver ended up going to the hospital because he was shaken up in the car wreck.
