Man Sentenced to Prison in The Fatal Crash of Popular Author

Prosecutors in Georgia said a man was sentenced to eight years in prison in the crash that killed a popular author.

Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds in a release sent to FOX 5 News stated that 45-year-old Jeffrey Robert Fettig pleaded guilty Thursday to a crash that killed 71-year-old Thomas Stanley, author of the "Millionaire Next Door" series.

Investigators said Fettig's blood-alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit two hours after the crash in February. Fettig pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle and driving under the influence.

Stanley's "The Millionaire Next Door" was a breakthrough hit in 1996. His sequel "The Millionaire Mind" spent 170-plus weeks on The New York Times' best-seller list.

Stanley's books were based on his theories that self-made millionaires were more likely to be frugal rather than flashy with cash.
