Man sentenced to life in prison for raping woman at knifepoint behind Atlanta church

The man convicted of raping a woman behind a church in 2014 was sentenced to life in prison plus 15 years, according to the Fulton County District Attorney's Office.

According to investigators, the victim left a relative’s home on August 8, 2014, when Kristopher Roberson pulled up beside her in a Jeep, jumped out with a pocketknife and forced the woman into his vehicle. 

Roberson was convicted of rape, aggravated sodomy, aggravated assault, kidnapping, and false imprisonment and was sentenced as follows: 

  • Count 1: Rape - Life
  • Count 2: Aggravated Sodomy - Life
  • Count 3: Aggravated Assault - 15 years
  • Count 4: Kidnapping - 15 years
  • Count 5: False Imprisonment - Merge into Count 4.
