Man gets 9 years for pimping 17-year-old from Atlanta hotel

ATLANTA (AP) — A man has pleaded guilty to pimping a 17-year-old girl in an Atlanta hotel room after claiming she could earn money for college by working for him.

The Georgia Attorney General's Office said in a news release that Andre Jones admitted to trafficking the teen in November 2014 from a hotel in the city's Buckhead neighborhood.

Jones was sentenced to 19 years with nine to serve after he pleaded guilty Tuesday to sex trafficking, pimping and pandering charges.

Authorities say Jones told the girl she could split the earnings with him, but instead decided to keep the money. The victim was saved by the FBI's Child Trafficking Task Force the second day she was trafficked.

Jones' co-defendant, Daeun Jones, will be tried at a later date.
