Man arrested in Cherokee County road rage shooting

Woodstock Police arrested a Marietta man who fired at a family in a truck during a road rage shooting.

Detectives said Jayvon Waller was charged with aggravated assault after the 9 a.m. shooting on busy Georgia Highway 92.

Charles Jenkins, his one-year-old daughter, and a woman were all in the pickup truck when police said Jenkins apparently cut off Waller on the busy roadway. Witnesses said Waller first began arguing, then pulled out a gun and sprayed several bullets into the red pickup truck, narrowly missing the one-year-old girl.

FOX 5 viewer Angela Campbell said she heard some commotion as she was putting her tools under her truck Tuesday morning. She started recording the scene with her cellphone.

"Someone was blowing the horn and they yelled, I been shot!" Ms. Campbell told FOX 5's Aungelique Proctor.

Woodstock Police and Fire Departments had quick responses to the shooting. Justin Wilson works close by and heard the violence unfold.

"I heard bang, bang, bang, bang. It was very unusual for this area," Wilson remarked.

Waller, who is from Marietta, was charged with aggravated assault and booked in the Cherokee County Jail without bond.
