Local mother upset over teen fight gone viral
FULTON COUNTY, Ga. ---A local mother is calling for action after a video showing her child in a fight went viral.
Ericka Parker-Jackson said her teenage daughter was attacked while walking home from a bus stop in Fairburn Friday. The student attends Creekside High School.
Jackson says some students often tease her child on the bus and decided to follow her home that day to fight.
"I never want any parent to go through what I went through, seeing their child get bullied, jumped on and hurt. My child had to be transported to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta," Jackson said.
The mother said her daughter suffered head and neck injuries after two girls beat her. She added at least a dozen more students cheered on the fight.
Fulton County Police confirmed to FOX 5 an officer responded to the incident. Authorities said one male juvenile was charged with harassment of communications (making a threat). Jackson, however, insisted more people should be held accountable. And until then, she plans to drive her child to school. Jackson told FOX 5 she spoke with a Creekside High School administrator. She also wants punishment for students who record and post videos of fights.
"If you're caught posting on social media a fight that happened at school or between students, there's going to be some consequences. I think that would put an end to it," she said.
FOX 5 reached out to Fulton County Schools for comment.
At this time, we await an official response.
