Lilburn Dog Found after Nearly a Year
LILBURN, Ga. - A Lilburn family says it's a bit of a miracle that their dog, a Siberian husky named Kaiser, is back home nearly a year after he mysteriously vanished.
The Williams family now has plans to make sure they never lose Kaiser again after they believe he was stolen.
The family recorded a special moment Sunday night when Kaiser was reunited with Kaleb Williams at their Lilburn home.
The 8-year-old told FOX 5 News he was shocked to see Kaiser come home again after he had missed his canine buddy for so long.
Korky Williams, Kaleb's mother, told FOX 5’s George Franco her son cried himself to sleep many nights during the last year since Kaiser's disappearance.
She said the pure breed Siberian husky mysteriously vanished from behind a locked gate nearly a year ago.
Kaiser was a gift but the family knew he was a pure breed worth hundreds of dollars. Williams said she believes Kaiser was stolen.
She said she and friends checked with local shelters, put out posters and posted social media to no avail.
Kaleb even bought a stuffed animal to remind him of Kaiser.
Then a few days ago, Kaiser turned up on the Facebook page of Georgia Lost Pets, a volunteer group which re-unites pets with owners.
A woman notified the group Kaiser had been located in Conyers.
Williams said a woman called the non-profit to claim Kaiser after the dog had escaped from their home.
She said Kaiser came back from a visit with the veterinarians with a clean bill of health. She has since had Kaiser micro-chipped so he can be easily identified.
Korky Williams said the family plans to keep Kaiser inside to protect him.
She said she has no plans to try to find out who had Kaiser all this time.
Kaleb said Kaiser is really special to him because he has known his canine companion since he was 2 years old.
