Lead, another chemical found in water at Dallas ISD service center
A few hundred Dallas ISD employees will have to be relocated from their building after lead and another chemical were found in the water supply.
The contaminated water was found at the William H. Cotton Service Center in the 3700 block of Lamar Street. Officials said the water had levels of lead and bromate higher than zero, but not at the EPA action limit.
Employees will be given bottled water by DISD until all of them can be moved out of the building.
Officials said no employees became ill due to the contaminated water. The water was tested after an administrator discovered the water supply for the building had never been tested.
Employees at the building work in custodial and maintenance jobs for the district.
DISD made the announcement during a Tuesday afternoon conference call with reporters.
