Lawyers for Jessica Colotl say DACA protection not revoked, for now
KENNESAW, Ga. - Lawyers for a former Georgia college student challenging a decision by immigration authorities to revoke her protection from deportation said they have won for now.
Government lawyers said Wednesday that protection under DACA would be revoked for 29-year-old Jessica Colotl. Colotl’s attorney said a federal judge has since blocked that revocation.
Her attorney said the order directs ICE to follow a previous court order which allows Colotl to remain in the country.
Colotl came into the national spotlight seven years ago after being turned over to immigration officials while a student at Kennesaw State University.
Her story has been widely referenced by advocates both for and against DACA.
