A 19-year-old woman is dead, and her boyfriend is facing charges in what police are calling a deadly shooting at a Lawrenceville home early Thursday morning.

What we know:

According to the Lawrenceville Police Department, officers responded to a house on Lauren Kay Court around 1:20 a.m. Thursday after receiving reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found the 19-year-old victim in a bedroom with a gunshot wound to the head.

Investigators said the victim’s boyfriend, 19-year-old Sebastian Prestridge, shot her. Prestridge was still at the scene when officers arrived and was taken into custody.

He has been charged with felony manslaughter, police said.

Police said everyone in the home at the time of the incident was cooperating with the investigation.

What they're saying:

"This is an incredibly tragic situation, and our hearts go out to the victim’s family and loved ones," said Capt. Dena Pauly, public information officer for the Lawrenceville Police Department. "Our investigators are working diligently to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding this young woman’s death."

What you can do:

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser account, 19-year-old Nina Michelle Ramirez is being remembered by family and friends as a fearless and loving young woman whose energy and compassion touched everyone around her.

Family and friends described Nina as a bright, passionate soul with an unshakable spirit. "Her laughter was contagious, her heart was full of care, and her spirit was unshakable," relatives wrote in a remembrance shared this week.

Known for her strength and loyalty, Nina always stood up for the people she loved and never hesitated to speak her truth. Those close to her say she lifted others up even while facing her own challenges.

Music was one of her greatest joys, especially her love for the band My Chemical Romance. She had recently seen them perform live, calling it one of the happiest moments of her life. "She couldn’t stop smiling afterward," her family said, recalling how she described feeling "truly alive in that moment." The concert, they said, captured everything about her—energy, emotion, and joy.

Outside of music, Nina found happiness in the simple moments she shared with her friends and family. She was known for her kindness, honesty, and ability to light up any room she entered.

Though her life was heartbreakingly short, her loved ones say her impact will endure through the courage, humor, and love she shared. "As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate her life—a life that, while brief, was filled with meaning, beauty, and strength," her family said.
