La. officer comforts girl after family's serious car crash

A photo of a Louisiana police officer holding a little girl after a car accident has quickly gone viral.

The Baton Rouge Police Department posted the image to Facebook on Friday.

According to the post, Sergeant Duke Staples responded to a serious crash call Thursday night on Airline Highway.

When Sergeant Staples arrived he noticed a 4-year-old girl walking barefoot around the scene “littered with broken glass.” Her mother and 12-year-old sister were injured in the wreck, according to police.

“Sgt. Staples took the 4 year old under his care and comforted her until EMS was able to stabilize the sister and prepare her for transport to the hospital,” the Facebook post said. “A family member later arrived to take care of this precious angel while her mother and sister were transported to the hospital for treatment.”

The post has been shared more than 100,000 times and has received more than 690,000 likes.
