Judge orders recusal from cases involving Gwinnett County DA

A Gwinnett County Superior Court judge will not be able to hear any cases brought by the Gwinnett District Attorney’s Office for at least the next 60 days.

Visiting Judge John Goger made the ruling involving Superior Court Judge Kathryn Shrader Friday.

Earlier this year, Judge Shrader accused the district attorney’s office of trying to access her computer.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into the matter after the judge hired a private investigation team including a convicted child molester to look into her concerns.

District Attorney Danny Porter's office said at the end of Judge Shrader's mandated recusal the state will have to show they are actively pursuing the criminal investigation into the hacking.

A special investigator and the GBI are working the case.
