IRS “Get Ready" website provides guidance to help taxpayers prepare their income tax return

As you get ready to file your 2025 federal income tax returns, the IRS "Get Ready" website has tips for taxpayers to file accurately and avoid delays.

The "Get Ready" website has numerous resources available to taxpayers, including how changes, such as purchasing a home, going to college or losing a job, may make you eligible for certain tax benefits, may affect your tax refund, and how to make sure you are having enough taxes withheld from your paycheck.

Why you should care:

In addition, "Get Ready" has the latest information on the One, Big, Beautiful Bill tax law provisions, such as no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, no tax on car loan interest, the new deduction for seniors and other provisions, and how these changes could impact tax return filing.
 

IRS Individual Online Account

The IRS says one of the most important steps taxpayers need to do is to have an IRS Individual Online Account and make sure you can access it.  Having an IRS Individual Online Accounts gives taxpayers 24/7 access to view their account information, make payments, manage communication preferences and protect tax information.

"Get Ready" also provides information on the IRS Free File program for tax filing options available for eligible taxpayers.
