Inmate accused of killing corrections officers during escape pleads not guilty

The attorney for one of the inmates accused of killing two corrections officers on a prison bus said he will change his plea if the death penalty is taken off the table.

Donnie Rowe pleaded not guilty Tuesday in court to the murder of sergeants Christopher Monica and Curtis Billue.

According to investigators, Rowe and Ricky Dubose disarmed and killed the men to escape a prison transfer bus last year.

The state has asked for the death penalty for both men.
