Southern University football player Devon Gales continues to work hard in his recovery at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta after suffering a spinal cord injury last month.

In a picture released Thursday from the Shepherd Center, you can see Gales wearing a University of Georgia jacket during a recent rehabilitation session.

Gales and his family said they were appreciative of the outpouring support from the public, but continue to ask for privacy at this time.

Gales, a wide receiver at Southern, fractured bones in his neck when he threw a block during the third quarter of the game against UGA in September. The hit happened near Georgia's sideline.

Doctors treated Gales at Athens Regional Medical Center before transferring him to the Shepherd Center.

Southern University has set up The Devon Gales Fund to assist with medical expenses related to Gales’ injury. If you’d like to donate, click here https://netcommunity.sus.edu/the-devon-gales-fund.
