If your Super Bowl team loses, you might smash your smartphone
Don't get too riled up on Super Bowl Sunday if your phone is one of your prized possessions. Why? Because if your team loses, you're three times more likely to destroy your phone. Yep, the latest study by iCracked says smartphone repairs are up 200% the day after the big game.
Think about it. Your adrenaline is rushing, you're probably yelling at the tv, and throwing your arms in the air. And that's when all heck can break loose.
iCracked saw a repair request boom of 176% last year when the Seattle Seahawks lost. And when the Denver Broncos lost in 2014, they saw a 184% increase. Other days of the year that lead to shattered screens are 4th of July, Halloween, and Christmas.
Your best bet is to keep your smartphone out of reach. Or come Monday, you may be twice as mad as you were right after the Super Bowl.
But if you can't help yourself, there is good news for you iPhone customers. 9TO5Mac reports Apple launching a new broken iPhone upgrade program. Though it hasn't launched yet, it will allow you to trade in your damaged iPhone, whether it has a damaged screen, camera, or buttons. There will also be a new program that allows Apple Retail Stores to install screen protectors on iPhone. 9TO5Mac reports trade-in values for the program will be $50 for a 5S, $200 for a 6, and $250 for a 6 Plus.
