Holly Springs police officer recovering after chase, crash
HOLLY SPRINGS, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A police officer is recovering and authorities are searching for two suspects after an early morning chase through Cherokee County.
The Holly Springs Police Department said officers attempted to pull over a Ford Econoline van with government tags along Interstate 575 around 1:30 a.m. Monday. Police said the van sped off toward Atlanta.
Officers ended up performing a PIT maneuver near the Interstate 75 merge, ending the pursuit, according to police. The truck struck the median wall and caught fire, police said.
An officer was injured in the chase. That officer was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital and was later released.
Investigators said the van was stolen from the DeKalb County Community Service Board and contained merchandise stolen from Holly Springs Walmart.
Police are searching for two suspects. Descriptions were not immediately available. Anyone with information is asked to call the Holly Springs Police Department at 770-345-5537.
