Deputies say four burglary suspects did not get to words to stay off the icy roads. Instead, they say the suspects hit three businesses and led them on a high-speed chase.
COWETA COUNTY, Ga. - Four burglary suspects apparently didn’t get the word to stay off the roads last Tuesday night.
They were captured after a high-speed chase in icy conditions.

The backstory:
Overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, the roads in Coweta County were like the roads in many Georgia communities: icy, treacherous, and impassable, prompting law enforcement to encourage people to stay home.

Perhaps thinking the winter weather was in their favor, deputies say a burglary crew out of Fulton County staged a crime spree early Wednesday morning, breaking into three convenience stores, smashing the windows, and making off with cash.
"They were able to get some cash from the cash drawers, and they damaged some ATMs," said Cpl. Chris Ricketson of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.
After the third break-in, deputies say they got a break—a suspect vehicle description, a stolen car out of Douglas County. And they say when they tried to pull it over, the driver took off, leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase on ice-covered roads.
Eventually, the deputy performed the PIT maneuver, and the car spun out of control.
Undaunted by the cold night, the four people inside made a run for it. Keep in mind, the temperatures were in the low teens, and there was snow on the ground.
"Deputies on scene were able to follow footprints in the snow to track them," Ricketson said.

What's next:
Three juveniles—two were 16 years old, and one was 14 years old—were captured almost immediately. Deputies say 19-year-old Tyree Looney of East Point was successfully tracked by the sheriff’s office K9 and, during his apprehension, was bitten. They say he was checked out at the hospital and then taken to jail.
The sheriff’s office says these guys are in big trouble. The charges include burglary, fleeing and attempting to elude, and then there’s the stolen car.
No word on when they would next appear in court.
