HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. - The family of a woman killed in a Mother's Day collision is pleading with state and local officials to fix a dangerous Haralson County intersection.

What we know:

A devastating crash on May 10 at the intersection of Highway 113 and Morgan Road claimed the life of a local woman affectionately known as Ms. Shirley. Shirley and her best friend were leaving church and heading home when the accident occurred. Shirley did not survive the impact, and her best friend remains in the hospital weeks later with serious injuries.

Loved ones say the intersection is highly dangerous because drivers cannot see oncoming traffic without pulling past the stop line and nearly entering the highway. Local first responders who attend a nearby church keep emergency gear packed at the door because they expect frequent wrecks at the location. According to the church's pastor, three people have died and nearly a dozen others have been injured at this specific crossroad over the past few years.
