Gwinnett burglar nabbed trying to sell loot
Gwinnett County police say Corey Brenner burglarized at least two homes in Stone Mountain. He was finally caught when he tried to sell the stolen property worth tens of thousands of dollars online.
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - Police have arrested a man accused of breaking into at least two Gwinnett County homes and stealing electronics and jewelry.
Cory Brenner is behind bars at the Gwinnett County Jail facing two counts of first-degree burglary.
What we know:
The first break-in happened on Dec. 12 at Nash Commons Drive SW in Stone Mountain. Gwinnett County police say a woman noticed a rear window and the back door of her grandparents’ home had been opened. Then they say she saw a man running from the scene.
Police told FOX 5 that the same man broke into a home around the corner on Old Tucker Road SW on Jan. 16.
"He was injured in one of the burglaries breaking in," Cpl. Ryan Winderweedle said.
Investigators say the burglar smashed a window and left a trail of blood droplets on the floor while he was stealing gold rings and necklaces - whatever he could get his hands on.
"Heirloom jewelry, electronics, gaming systems," Windwerweedle said. "Totaling close to $20,000."
Several days later, detectives spotted some of the stolen property online "and tracked that back to Cory Brenner, who actually lived nearby both of those burglaries," Winderweedle said.

He said police "served the search warrant, located some of the property from both of the burglaries that occurred over there."
What they're saying:
Samah Josufi couldn’t believe it when FOX 5 told her someone broke into her neighbors’ homes and stole about $20,000 worth of possessions.
"Wow, I did not know that," Josufi said. "That’s a lot of money, that is a lot."
Police recovered at least some of what the victims lost.
"It’s good to be able to get people’s property back in their hands," Winderweedle said.
