The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a horrifying head-on collision that happened Thursday afternoon.

SKYFOX 5 flew over the scene on Georgia Highway 92 near Brownsville Road around 5 p.m. and spotted two vehicles badly damaged with debris scattered across the roadway.

A spokesperson for the Georgia State Patrol said a blue Nissan Versa driven by Lordly Rattray, of Smyrna, crossed the center turn lane and struck a gray Hyundai Elantra driven by Carletta Hicks, of Hiram, head-on.

Trooper said both drivers were taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. Two children in the Hyundai were airlifted to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. The names and conditions of those involved have not yet been released.

Traffic on Highway 92 was shutdown in both directions for several hours while crews worked to clear the wreck.

GSP said the accident is still under investigation and would not comment if any charges were possible.
